Head Start at Carlton Court
Kids Tour a Pavilion Remodeling Project
Pavilion Construction Press Release 03.03.2011 - For immediate release
This past December, the
Housing Authority of Portland (HAP) and Pavilion Construction teamed up to provide an educational and fun-filled day for a group of Head Start kids and their families. Through compassionate partnership, Pavilion Construction and HAP were able to offer the children at Head Start a chance to see inside the fascinations of the construction world.
The Pavilion team and HAP met up with Head Start at the Carlton Court Apartments, which Pavilion was remodeling. The children were full of energy and eager to introduce themselves to the Housing Authority of Portland and Pavilion staff. Brian Gerritz, President of Pavilion Construction, gathered the group of twenty kids and taught them the basic fundamentals of construction, “Construction 101”, and the importance of safety as a primary construction concern. The educational lesson was followed by a question and answer session for the kids. Before the walkthrough of the Carlton facility began, each kid was issued a Pavilion hard hat and safety glasses. “The kids loved it; it made them feel part of the team,” said Brian Kent, Project Executive for Pavilion.
The Housing Authority of Portland was delighted to be there. HAP holds a special place in the hearts of the people at the Head Start organization, having aided in the construction of a number of Head Start facilities. HAP was even more excited to meet the children, give back to them, and show them in person how much they truly care. Relocation Manager, Chrissy McCausland expressed her feelings, “The children were amazing, and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet them.” Pavilion and HAP are proud to lend a hand in fulfilling the Head Start Vision.
