La Hacienda Celebration

La Hacienda Apartments, Belen NM

Pavilion Construction Press Release 7.19.11 – For immediate release

In years past, the La Hacienda Apartments has been site of criminal activity and a problem for its neighbors. After the apartment building foreclosed in late 2009, YES Housing Inc. was given the opportunity to purchase the land by utilizing funds from MFA’s (Mortgage Finance Authority) Neighborhood Stabilization Program. YES Housing teamed up with the City of Belen to begin the renovation of the historic La Hacienda apartments. When the revitalization project began Mayor Rudy Jaramillo told a local news reporter, “There is hope that this positive change will lead into a community partnership and assist in the efforts to revitalize surrounding areas.”

The vision of the La Hacienda renovation project was to transform blighted units to quality homes while assisting in the efforts to stabilize the historic Belen Community. At the grand opening earlier this month it was apparent that the project was successful in achieving its projected goals. “Because of the completion of the La Hacienda apartments, neighbors appear to be motivated to continue making a difference," said Mayor Rudy Jaramillo. Project Site Superintendant Carlos Rodriguez was at the ceremony and felt the warmth from  the community’s positive reaction to the La Hacienda transformation, “It was gratifying to see how truly pleased the owners and people of the Belen were to see the transformation completed.”

The residents now have refrigerated air/furnace systems, all new doors and windows, CFL light bulbs, EnergyStar rated appliances, new cabinetry and countertops, and new flooring. A playground area for the community’s youth has been assembled in the courtyard, improvements have been made to all common area facilities, parking has been repaired, and the areas surrounding the building have been completely re-landscaped.

The impact the completion of La Hacienda apartments had in the Belen community is immeasurable. With projects like the La Hacienda apartments, Pavilion Construction will continue to be passionate in leading the movement where individual people can come together to become community.
