Pavilion Construction Press Release 2.25.2011 – For immediate release
In mid February, Pavilion broke ground on the Plaza Feliz Apartments. Located in the heart of Albuquerque’s metropolitan development area, the Plaza Feliz project aspires to lend a hand in enhancing the atmosphere in the Trumbull Village Community. The project’s Developer, Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership (GAHP), is thrilled about the project. Louis Kolker, Executive Director, expresses his enthusiasm, “This will be a transformation for the community, and will hopefully pave the way for more future quality projects.”
In efforts to rehabilitate the neighborhood, the City of Albuquerque purchased the Plaza Feliz lot, which previously contained a 113 unit substandard apartment complex. The site was demolished in 2008 and 2009 to make way for new construction. Pavilion believes that the quality of the Plaza Feliz Apartments will continue to strengthen the character of the Trumbull Village Community. The project will provide affordable housing, targeting families with special needs. The Plaza Feliz Apartments is one of many steps in the attempts to further enhance the culture and image in the community.
The $12 million Plaza Feliz community is designed by Integrated Design and Architecture (IDeA). It is a green project aiming towards LEED gold certification. It will incorporate both energy conservation assemblies and environmentally friendly materials. The green efforts of the project will not only save tenants money in utilities, but also promote cost savings in construction operations. President of IDeA, Bob Hall, says, “It was a pleasure working for a client that believes in green initiatives. IDeA is proud to a play part in the revitalization of the Trumbull Village Neighborhood.” With a well respected and growing awareness in the multi-family market, this project holds great significance for IDeA.
From developer, to designer, to contractor, the goals and values for the Plaza Feliz project are in perfect alignment. The outcome of the project is sure to enhance the quality of living, create more opportunities for families in need, and overall enrich the character of the Trumbull Village Neighborhood.
