A New Way of Providing Care

NW Metro VA Clinic – Rio Rancho, NM

Pavilion Construction Press Release 05.30.2012 – For immediate release

On Friday May 11th, 2012 the New Mexico Veterans Health Care System (NMVAHCS) held the ribbon cutting and grand opening of its largest Veterans clinic to date. The 10,00 square foot Northwest Metro Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) was designed using the Veteran Centered Care model, utilizing architectural layout and design conducive to health and healing (abundance of natural light, easy work flow for services to Veterans, soothing integral colors), group space for treatment and education, and integration of primary care, mental health and specialty care.

Master of Ceremonies and Chief of Voluntary Service & Public Affairs Operations, Sonja Brow, proudly presented the NW Metro CBOC to those in attendance and was warmly received by its future Veteran patients, community leaders, state and local officials, including Senator Jeff Bingaman, and Rio Rancho Mayor Thomas Swisstack.

As in all of the New Mexico VA Health Care Systems, Veterans at the NW Metro CBOC will be treated by a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), an approach which provides whole-person care to promote life-long health and wellness. With these Patient Aligned Care Teams in place, the NMVAHCS is improving Primary Care delivery by increasing access and improving communication and coordination of inpatient to outpatient care.
