A Grand, Grand Opening

Villa Alegre Apartments, Santa Fe, NM

Pavilion Construction Press Release 7.12.11 – For immediate release

In mid June, 2010 Pavilion Construction broke ground for the Villa Alegre Apartments in Santa Fe, NM. Now, a year later it seems another celebration is in order. “It was well received,” commented Mike Duty (Duty & Germanas Architect) in regards to the grand opening for the Villa Alegre Apartments. Duty was quick to recognize the team effort it took in order to complete such a monumental project. He was extremely satisfied with its outcome. “From the very beginning phases, those involved came together and worked very well with one another and with the wishes of the neighborhood,” said Duty.

The ceremony began around noon, Friday July 8th, 2011. It kicked off with a performance by a local Mariachi ensemble. “It was a lively atmosphere, full of energy, everyone seemed to be having a good time,” said Ira Griffin. Ira, the appointed superintendent throughout the construction of the Villa Alegre Apartments, said, “It seemed like yesterday when we began mobilizing to break ground.”

Once the festivities ended, the crowd gathered around the podium. Speaking on behalf of the City Santa Fe was Mayor David Cross. He was followed by Ed Romero, Executive Director of the Santa Fe Civic Housing Authority (SFCHA). “I am extremely pleased with everybody’s hard work. The SFCHA is swollen with pride to lay claim to the first public housing community in NM to achieve LEED Platinum status,” said Romero. The Villa Alegre Apartments also happens to be the first public housing project to date for the SFCHA, but Romero ensures that it will not be their last.

Villa Alegre Facts:

Phase Two was the finishing step, adding 51 units (23 buildings) and the second community building. The apartments are a mixture of one, two, and three bedrooms in both single and two story walled in rear yards. Site work included extensive sidewalks as well as underground cistern systems for storm water detention. The apartments have stucco finish with both flat and pitched roofs.
