Newport Aquatic Center

This public works project provides current and future generations of the City of Newport with years of enjoyment. The recreation center replaced an old pool, which had been operational for over 50 years. The Newport Aquatic Center was designed to include an eight-lane competition pool, expanded locker rooms, a warm water multi-use pool, spa, and seating for up to 300 spectators.

The Doerfler lap pool is ideal for holding large-scale meets and invitational opportunities, along with daily activities. It houses 188,072 gallons of water, at a turnover rate of every six hours. The leisure pool features zero-depth entry, lazy river, and warmer temperature water for aerobics, swim lessons, and therapy activities. It holds 53,033 gallons of water. The hydrotherapy spa seats up to 12 patrons at a time.

In addition to the construction of the new recreation center, the project scope included site work for the existing City Hall and Police Headquarters.
